The New Typography

On a recent trip overseas, I had a very short stopover in New York.  I immediately took this opportunity to head over to MOMA to see the Tim Burton, as well as The New Typography exhibitions.

Unfortunately, MOMA on New Year’s day tends to be the place that everyone wants to go to, as Tim Burton was sold out, and the crowds made it impossible to make it through to the third floor for the Typography exhibit.

Good news is that The New Typography is on until July 12, which gives me a great excuse to take the one hour flight down the good old NYC!

The exhibition explores an era during the 1920’s-30’s where the branded New Typography movement brought graphic and information design to the forefront of the avant-garde in Central Europe.  A new form of thinking changed, almost overnight, the format in which typographers and printers worked and designed.
