Vintage Magazine

Vintage Magazine is a new publication celebrating design, culture, and the creative possibilities of print.  It invites a variety of writers and artists to survey the historic impact of art, music, fashion, food, travel and more.  A bi-annual publication, its aim is to embody style, excellence, and timeless elegance.  I have recently subscribed, and can’t wait for my copy to arrive in the mail!

Inspired by Fleur Cowles‘ legendary Flair magazine (published 1950-51), a publication that the New York Times called “one of the most extravagant and innovative magazines ever published.” Flair featured die-cut covers, fabulous foldouts and illustrations, and contributions from the likes of Salvador Dali and Tennessee Williams.

Excerpts from Vintage Magazine include:

Award-winning jazz critic Gary Giddins discusses the art and impact of the album cover.

Food historian Joy Santlofer sheds light on the dirty story behind sugar refining in 19th century New York City.

AdWeek columnist Barbara Lippert, one of today's keenest observers of modern culture, sets her gaze on Barbie.

Subscriptions run one year for $32 and two years for $60 and are available at http://www.vintagezine.com/
